• What type of accommodation is provided on this tour?

  You will be staying in a hostel for 5 nights, in multi-share dormitories. The hostel is located in Santa Teresa, central Rio, close to public transport, street parties, the beach, supermarkets, banks, and drugstores. Male and female travelers will be separated into different rooms.

• Are meals included in this tour?

  Yes, 5 breakfasts are included in the trip.

• What is the typical group size for this tour?

  While the tour has a small group staff-to-traveler ratio, you'll be joining a larger "G party" with around 100+ like-minded travelers, creating a vibrant Carnival experience. The tour is designed for 18-to-Thirtysomethings (ages 18-39).

• What activities and services are included in the tour price?

  The tour includes a Rio de Janeiro city tour (half-day), visits to Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain, a G purple costume party, a subway/public transportation pass for Carnival street parties, Sambadrome tickets (Section 10) with metro access and CEO accompaniment for the Carnival parade. All transport between destinations and to/from included activities, plus local G Adventures staff support, are also covered.

• Are there any optional activities available?

  Yes, you have the option to take a Favela Tour in Rio de Janeiro, which costs 187 BRL per person.

• What modes of transportation will be used during the tour?

  Transportation will include public bus, private van, taxi, and subway. For included tours and transfers, you may use private vans, cars, or taxis, which might be shared. You will be provided with a subway/public transportation pass for Carnival street parties and metro travel to/from the Sambadrome.

• I am a solo traveler, will I have to pay an extra fee?

  No, single travelers are not required to pay a single supplement. Our group trips are designed for shared accommodation, and solo travelers will be paired in multi-share rooms with someone of the same gender for the duration of the trip.

• What safety precautions should I be aware of during the tour, especially during Carnival?

  It is highly recommended to use a neck wallet or money belt for valuables and leave your passport in the hotel safe. Be vigilant for pickpockets during Carnival, and avoid carrying excessive cash. When going to the beach, only bring necessities. During free time at night, it's advised to stay in small groups and use taxis. Your CEO will accompany you on all included activities and can amend the itinerary for safety concerns.

• Is it recommended to carry emergency funds?

  Yes, it is recommended to have access to at least an additional USD $200 (or equivalent) as an emergency fund for unforeseen circumstances that might require a change to the planned route.

• Is tipping customary on this tour?

  Yes, it is customary in Latin America to tip service providers such as waiters and local guides, typically around 10%, depending on the service. Tipping is an expected, though not compulsory, part of your tour program.

• Is travel insurance required for this trip?

  Yes, travel insurance is compulsory. You must have medical coverage with a minimum of USD 200,000 for repatriation and emergency rescue. It is also strongly recommended to cover personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, and loss of luggage.

• How will I receive my Carnival parade tickets for the Sambadrome?

  Carnival parade tickets will be issued through the Quentro app. Travelers are encouraged to download and register for the app before travel and share the email used with the tour operator for smooth ticket delivery. Your CEO will assist at the Welcome Meeting if needed.

• Is laundry service available during the trip?

  Laundry is available at the hostel. It is generally cheaper to use a local laundry service offsite, with an approximate cost of $5 USD per kg (2.2 lb).
